The percentages shown in the chart below represent what the sample creator earns. They vary depending on the license tier (A, B, or C) and how long the sample plays in the track.
The split applies to both publishing and master royalties, but they’re each calculated differently:
Publishing: % of the whole song
Master: % of the artist's share of the song
Example
If your track uses a Royalty B sample that plays for more than 90 seconds, the sample’s rate is 15%. The sample creator earns 15% of the song’s publishing royalties, and for the master, they earn 15% of the total artist share—so if the artist (or artists collectively) own 50% of the master, that equals 7.5% total.
